Progress Continues at MGP Site 11/10/08
Remediation efforts are continuing at a former manufactured gas plant (MGP) site in Central New York. After installing nearly 1,000 linear feet of watertight steel sheeting to a depth of 60 feet, Abscope erected a 200' by 120' temporary enclosure to minimize and control nuisance odors during removal. Four 20,000 cfm air-handling units with activated carbon beds were installed to filter air during excavation. Abscope has begun excavating MGP-impacted soils to a depth of 20 feet (will continue to a depth of 28 feet). We have completed waste characterization of stockpiled soils and are loading, transporting, and disposing of D018 soils at a permitted thermal treatment facility.
