Former Underground Storage Tank Spill - Remedial Excavation

MAJOR PROJECT TASKS:    

  • Performed remedial excavation of approximately 32,000 tons of petroleum-impacted
    soil 20 feet below grade
  • Excavation within a gas station pump canopy
  • Removal of soil around footers while not compromising the stability of the canopy or
    footers
  • Application of Regenesis’ Oxygen Releasing Compound slurry (ORC) on to the base
    and sidewalls of excavations
  • Loading of impacted soils for transport and disposal to an aproved ExxonMobil
    facility
  • Implementation of a site specific HASP and JSAs
  • Isolation of work area from traffic via jersey barriers and chain link fences
  • Implementation of traffic control in accordance with the control plan in place
  • Site restoration completed to facilitate continued work on the site for the NYSDOT
  • Compliance with all LPS requirements as well as assisting in JSA reports

  • Performance of work at an active NY State Thruway service center while not
    impeding operations
