Controlled Demolition with Asbestos In-Place

Abscope was hired by the City of Watertown to demolish the condemned, structurally unsound building as a “Controlled Demolition With Asbestos In-Place” following NYS Industrial Code Rule 56. Sub-freezing temperatures, wind, and snow made this project challenging, but the project was successfully and safely completed.
Abscope’s responsibilities:
- Emergency building demolition during winter
- Maintaining safe working conditions during winter
- Coordinating utility markings with local agencies
- Maintaining public roadways and sidewalks
- Maintaining public access to adjacent commercial properties
- Locating, disconnecting, cutting, and capping of utilities
- Separating and decontaminating salvageable materials
- Coordinating waste/debris trucking and disposal at local landfill
