Controlled Demolition with Asbestos In-Place

General Location: New York

 Abscope was hired by the City of Watertown to demolish the condemned, structurally unsound building as a “Controlled Demolition With Asbestos In-Place” following NYS Industrial Code Rule 56.  Sub-freezing temperatures, wind, and snow made this project challenging, but the project was successfully and safely completed.

Abscope’s responsibilities:

• Emergency building demolition during winter
• Maintained safe working conditions during winter
• Coordinated utility markings with local agencies
• Maintained public roadways and sidewalks
• Maintained public access to adjacent commercial properties
• Located, disconnected, cut, and capped utilities
• Separated and decontaminated salvageable materials
• Coordinated waste/debris trucking and disposal at local landfill
