Electrode Sheetpile Installation – Thermal Remediation

General Location: Baltimore, MD

Abscope was contracted to install a sheet piling to serve as electrodes to aid in thermal remediation.

 

Abscope’s responsibilities:

• Installed approximately Z75 steel sheet piling to a depth of 39’ below grade
• Drove steel electrodes via an ABI 16/20 Mobilram with vibratory hammer attachment
• Drove the top of the electrodes below grade to provide protection from arcing during thermal treatment
• Inaccessibility to the sheeting location required a crane mat road through very soft wetland areas
• Performed work adjacent to an active CSX Rail line and in an active roadway which required traffic control, flagging and continuous communication during the work
