Rail Train Derailment

MAJOR PROJECT TASKS:    

  • Expeditious response to a hazardous train derailment
  • Timely cleanup of an emergency spill
  • Trucking and disposal of hazardous material
  • Construction of retention basins
  • Immediate mobilization of 7 pieces of heavy equipment (bulldozers, excavators and loaders), 15 dump trucks, 25 sets of light packs, and a ground crew of ten operators / technicians
  • Construction of an access road from a public street to the site of the derailment
  • Construction of a 2 acre staging pad for the excavated contaminated soils and chard rail cars
  • Excavation of contaminated soils and temporary retention basins
  • Vacuum Truck services
  • Delivery of 500 tons of fly ash
  • 24 hour—6 day coverage onsite until the railway was successfully reopened
  • Once reopened, remediation efforts continued in close proximity to operating rail system
